Will a 2000 ford ranger 3.0 engine swap with a 1993 ford ranger 3.0?

I bought a 2000 ranger that has a 3.0 engine and is auto but the engine needs replacing.A friend of mine has a 93 ranger with the same engine that is a fairly new engine.i would like to know if the 93 engine will fit in the 2000 model.I know the cam was changed to a roller so im curious if that is interchangeable changing lifters too,i know that the dist.was changed.was the same block used in 2000 and a cover was used for the dist.hole.My main concern is knowing if i can at least use the short block or heads from the 93 on the 2000 once i dig into it and find out exacttly what is wrong.Thanks and God bless
