Is the North Atlantic Current Slowing down? Or is it even there?
Hi well i've become very interested in this over the past year and the more and more i watch the current the less prevalent it becomes even between december and now it has slowed down and by looking at the latest images it looks as though its barely there now? http://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/ofs/viewer.shtml?-natl-cur-0-small-rundate=latest It seems like theres a bit of it there but i doubt that would really affect us? Will it ever return again or will it keep slowing down until its no longer exists? I've noticed as well that over the past four years each winter is lasting longer and colder for example the winter before last winter was cold but it only stayed below freezing for three weeks this winter was even colder and we even had about two foot of snow which lasted about 6weeks that is extremely long for the uk (central-north of it) and something has to had caused this. May it have been the gulf stream? And if it keeps slowing down will this winter be even colder? This summer is really cold too (well here in the north (ni) anyway) we had snow on the hills (500m) three weeks ago which is unheard of in ni in the summer! People are saying that this winter will be even colder due to the jetstream being south of us (its mean't to be north of us in the summer) and the low solar activity is this just a myth or is it likely? i hope so!
Still trying to cope with a trauma that occured thirty years ago (and bring my family back together)?
In 1981, my eight-year-old brother Andrew was kidnapped by a family acquaintance and held hostage for three weeks. During this time, he was routinely beaten and sexually abused by his captor. He was also burned with boiling water and forced to listen while his captor made crank calls to our family pretending to be the police, telling us that Andrew had been found. He was rescued after three weeks. It had taken that long to track him down because his captor had them moving around all the time. It's strange to me how a period of time as short as three weeks could destroy so many lives, and leave so many still broken after thirty years. Andrew's body recovered from the trauma, but his mind never healed. The Andrew that came back to us was not the Andrew we had previously known. Before the trauma, Andrew was very social and outgoing. We were only two years apart and always very close. I never had any other brothers or sisters. He was a sweet little boy with a good sense of humor, and, being an older sister, I teased him constantly. Not meanly, but in a playful way. He is the most ticklish person to ever walk planet Earth, and as a little kid he loved it when I tickled his feet. We wrestled and play-fought and just enjoyed being with each other. When he came back, everything changed. Andrew had always been close to me and my parents also, but after he came back he acted like he couldn't even stand the sight of us. I could never understand that. I thought he should be happy to be back with us, people who loved him. He told me when he was older that I was a stranger to him and that there was a gulf separating him from everyone else. He was resentful that other people hadn't been where he had been. When he first came back and started beng like that, I tried so hard to bring him back. I tickle-attacked him like I used to and even though he squirmed and laughed just the same, he didn't enjoy it at all. He wouldn't wrestle either, and didn't seem to want to be around me at all. He did well in school and never had issues with drugs and alcohol, he's been successful in life and has a wife and kids, but for the past thirty years you can tell that something in him is just gone. Something inside him died all those years ago and, despite this, I still hope so hard that I can bring him back. I still see him and our children play together, but that confidence is gone. He underwent counseling as a child and teen but it didn't help him and he doesn't see anyone anymore. I encourage him to see someone about his depression and the pain he still feels but he says it wouldn't make any difference. I'm sorry this post is so long but I just don't know what to do to help him. He's physically healthy and financially stable, but I want to be close to him again and my parents want the same. Is there anything I can do to bring him back, to make us all just a little closer?
Atheists, which has hurt mankind more?
I live in an area which was devastated by a war and many people discriminated against based on religious beliefs. Government problems are often fuelled by the presence of religion.

How likely am i to win this lawsuit?
I was in an accident caused by a police chase. There was a robbery early in the morning but there were no suspects. Later that night police were on duty of the case of the robbery. The driver that hit me passed a few stop signs which police saw. The driver refused to stop after the police signaled him to stop. The police chasing the fleeing car, turned his sirens and lights off after realizing he couldn't "catch" up. Then the driver fled off in high speed running a red light which caused him to t bone my car on the passenger side. It caused my car to spin and hit a pole. I suffered both ankle fractures and multiple pelvic fractures. I had 3 surgeries on my left ankle and one surgery on the right ankle. No surgery was needed for the pelvis. I might need a fourth surgery on the left ankle depending on how the recovery goes. The driver that failed to stop suffered facial fractures. The passenger was ejected from the car causing vertebrae fractures and facial fractures. There was also a third car involved that was hit by the fleeing driver, the driver had minor injuries no broken bones, just scratches and bruises. My injuries have life long consequences, including arthritis and further surgery in the future. If the police was chasing a suspect, why would they turn off the lights and sirens. They are SUPPOSED to warn innocent drivers of the danger. Do i have a good lawsuit in my hands? I need answers, please !
